The long awaited Miss Uganda UK 2009 grand final has finally taken place at the Troxy Venue, London on 13th June 2009.  The event was dedicated to the plight of the Children of Northern Uganda through LCN as an official Charity endorsed Performance Production for Miss Uganda UK 2009. The event was jam-packed and puts on spectacular show including performance of the Acholi Cultural Dance by LCN - Social and Recreational Activities Group hailed by New Vision Kampala, 15th June 2009 and many spectators at the event, as the most stunning performances of the night. LCN acknowledged that all the contestants were winners, but the Beauty Queen Maria Namiiro were sole winner crowned on the night.  LCN wishes all the other contestants both the 2nd and 1st Runner up and Maria herself many many congratulations and good luck to al they endeavour to do in the coming days, weeks, months and years to come.  LCN is looking forward to working with Maria as she began her Ambassadorial role with us for the years to come.

All of Miss Uganda UK 2009 events with reference for LCN support have been well attended bringing together all sections of the Ugandan Community in the UK and as far as Uganda and other parts of the world not only to socialise, network or enjoy themselves, but also to offer support for LCN well worth charity causes for the Children of Northern Uganda who for many years missed out on education and other aspects of human development due to prolonged civil war compounded with widespread poverty. LCN as an advocate and the voice of many disadvantaged and underprivileged groups, on behalf of the children of Northern Uganda would like to sincerely thank Performance Production for Miss Uganda UK, Kampala Night, Club Volt and entire participants at all of the events showing solidarity.

LCN Uganda Affiliate
Our sister partner in Northern Uganda recently staged a fundraising event on Sunday 14th June 2009 in the Lira district to help raised fund for the completion of the Community Centre Building Project initiated by LCN  in the heart of a small village call Angwetatangwet in Lira District.  The building project for the community is supported by LCN UK and supporter (St Gabriel’s Cricklewood).  The event was attended by a number of Local MPs, Cllrs, businesses, other well-wishers and the local community themselves.  The event raised well over 4,000,000 Uganda Shillings and many in-kind donations.  LCN Chair Uganda, IP Charles Okullo on behalf of Team LCN Uganda conveyed their sincere gratitude to LCN UK and Supporters for initiating Project financial support, the local community members for their positive responses and to all the people who responded to their appeal at the fundraising event for generous contributions of money or contributed in one way or another.
